Bay Day
The weather was just a bit rough outside the bay today where we normally do most of our halibut fishing so we gave it our best to catch some inside the bay. We started out fishing in 550 feet of water but didnt werent having any luck. Then I got a call from Nik on the Crakerjack that he was catching a few "chicken" size halibut and that I was welcome to come over and join him. We pick up and headed that way and not long after we were on anchor we hooked into a 142 pound hog! We only got one other halibut at that spot before we went on the hunt for some silvers. The salmon bite ended up being pretty darn good as we got all 36 of them in a little over an hour. Once again having the ability to communicate and share information with the Crackerjack fleet helped out today! Thanks Nik.

Birthday Fish!
What a great gift this was. The kids decided to give dad a fishing charter for his birthday. It really coundnt have turned out any better as dad was the one who hooked in to a real trophy of a fish. Early on in the day I slipped a whole salmon carcuss on dads pole and he waited. It wasnt too long before his pole was bending towards the water as if he were stuck to the ocean floor. The fish took line off the real as it headed away from the boat and dad hung on. The fish let up and dad began to pump and wind the line back onto the reel. About halfway up the fish decided to head back to the bottom and peeled off more line. Dad hung in there and was determined to win this battle. Towards the end of the battle the fish was just visible in the water but refused to budge. As dad would lift on the pole the line would just peel off, just a little frustating to watch. I continued to coach dad on the proper techniques on getting the fish the rest of the way to the boat and the fight was ended with a shot from the bang stick. The big fish was gaffed and brought on board and the high fives, hand shakes and celebration began. The birthday fish weighed in at 220 pounds.

"Lean Back on Thay Azz"
Booker and Team "Lean Back on Thay Azz" made it to Seward for the first day of their 8 day fishing extravaganza. We wasted little time getting rods bent with a drift over the favorite ling hole. We loaded the boat with lings and yelloweye and headed off to find the halibut. The halibut fishing was good though the water was getting rough. We boated a limit of halibut including Carl's 70 pounder that was the last fish of the day.

Holy Halibut!
We landed on a great halibut bite early in the day, boating 4 fish in the 70 - 115 pound range in quick order. Later in the day we found the chickens were savage and the silver bite was again amazing. Capt. Steve
