I thought I would send a photo and a note of thanks for the great day we had with Ben on August 22nd. We did a halibut/ling cod combo and I think everyone was worn out by the end of the day. Ben works hard trying to make the clients happy. The weather cooperated and we met great folks in Kathy and Don from Minnesota and Gary and Dave from California. As you can see in the picture we reached our ling cod limit, we were only two shy of our halibut limit (due to my poor hook-up abilities) and we had some bonus yelloweye. All-in-all, a most memorable day for our first visit to Alaska.

This catch provided alot of excitement for this group from Iowa.Capt. Ben got us on the fish right away. We had our limit of halibut and ling cod in just 2 hours. Then we set out for silver salmon. In just 20 minutes we had our limit. Thanks Capt. Ben and Profish-N-Sea.

Another shot of the 325...

Well, as I'm sure many of you have seen, fishing reports have been few and far between for the last month. We've had some fantastic fishing during that time but unfortunately a couple weeks ago some schmuck stole my camera off the dock (which contained about 12 days of photos).... So, for now the only fishing reports I've been able to post are with photos sent in by clients. Thanks to those of you who have emailed photos my way. And for the rest of you who would like to see your great catches posted on the fishing report, I encourage you to send photos to me. Include if you like a brief report of your fishing day(s) and I will do my best to post that too...
The silver salmon fishing continues to be epic this season with many limit catches coming back to the dock every day. Usually by this time of the season the silvers are getting a little scarce in the bay yet this year they are still being caught in numbers from a few locations inside Res. Bay. Today is the start of the Annual Seward Silver Salmon Derby which for the first time has no boundaries for participants. This means that anglers fishing combo trips or salmon trips outside the bay, can participate in the Derby. I would encourage all anglers this week to purchase their Salmon Derby Tickets.
Halibut fishing also remains very good. We have been bringing nice loads of 'butskis back to the dock though occasionally we have been pestered by the dogfish. Chicken halibut have also remained in good supply to help fill a limit at the end of the day or to load up quickly on a combo trip.
The Pursuit has been out of the water more lately than it has been in the water - blowing 2 engines in the last 10 days. Again, I apologize to those of you who were displaced because of this. Fortunately we were able to find great boats to have everyone fish on and while we missed fishing with you we hope you had a great time fishing without us... It still remains a mystery to me how two diesel engines with only 1700 hours on them can grenade within a week of each other??? Well, with 2 brand-new engines in her belly the boat is back in the water and fishing once again. Hopefully all problems are behind us for a while...

Kevin the Giant Killer... For the second time this season Kevin has brought back to the dock a fish over 300lbs. This one was a true monster tipping the scales at 325 pounds. What a fish.

Mike Colescott and the gang enjoyed a banner day on the water today loading up on big halibut and silvers. After the crew had a sizeable amount of white fillets we turned our attention to silvers and caught a pile of bright salmon.

Great to see the Webb crew again for their annual freezer filling fish slaughter... Again this year they fished 4 days with us, limiting on salmon for three of the days and loading up on halibut, lings, and yelloweye on the other.

Fishing report/photos submitted by Pam Thompson - thanks Pam!
On July 15th, we fished another combo trip, but only kept the Salmon, one halibut and the yellow eye. We caught many other fish, but released all of them. My husband, Ken and John had a lot of fun catching Ling Cod (Jigging) and releasing them at the end of the day. Kevin did a great job, and we appreciated his hard work. We also enjoyed his company. We hope to see you again next year.
