Today was an incredible day on the water, one of the days that we live for with flat calm water and bright sunshine. Even the fish cooperated. We found steady action with fish from large to small. The jig rod was hot today and everyone passed the rod and caught fish. Gary landed the largest of the day which tipped the scales at 119 lbs. At seven years old Jeffery did a great job helping me steer the boat and also showed great enthusiasm landing a couple nice chickens.

We headed out today with the digital records guys from the Army. We worked hard all morning looking for bigger halibut, but with the end of the stronger tide cycle the fish didn't cooperate for us. Later on we hit the fav chicken hole and loaded up on nice chix. The action was hot with everyone hooked up at once. After that we loaded up on rockfish, which kept Nick busy filleting all the way home....

I look at this picture and all I can do is laugh. This group of guys was one of the most rowdy and funniest groups I have had on the boat in a long time. I probably shouldn’t go into much detail because I’m not sure if I can write about what went on on here. The way they messed with each other would have made a horrible day of fishing entertaining for me; fortunately that wasn’t the case. It took about an hour to get it going but after that it just started to roll. We landed a number of fish between 50 and 75.

Well I guess I have hidden in the shadows too long and if I don’t take a shot at blogging Steve and Woody are going to steal all the glory. As you can tell by what you have seen on the reports, the last couple of weeks of fishing have been amazing. Today on the Pursuit we had a wonderful group of service men and women (can’t forget Tracy) from Elmendorf Air Force Base. We started the Halibut/King combo in search for some flaties. After a very slow first couple hours our patience paid off when the light switch turned on. Many came in doubles or quickly after each other leaving the deck covered with slime, blood and many fish over 60#. Once Nick and I were able to catch up with running the deck it was time to search for some kings. After trolling for a couple of hours Andrew, Craig and Jeff helped end an already wonderful day on an even higher note by each landing a King.

Today was a beautiful day on the water and the end result of the day of fishing was good - it just took a while to get there. We started out with a bang in the first 10 minutes as a big hungry halibut swallowed a jig and a bait and headed for Hawaii. The guys did a great job of dragging the 125 pound fish back to the boat. From there the action slowed and the fish shrunk in size. After a move the action heated back up in the afternoon and we hauled up a nice load of halibut.

What a wonderful day to go fishing. Today we had a couple of the regulars (Kevin and Mike) join forces with some new faces (Lonnie, Dale and Bob). The day started with an intense rockfish bite that allowed us to retain a boat limit and just about the time that slowed down the halibut began to roll through. Jigs seemed to be on fire allowing Kevin to land one at 98, Mike one at 103 and Lonnie bagging the big fish of the day for the Seward Halibut Tournament at 152. There will be a few more familiar faces in the future after this one. Capt Kevin

Scott, Monty, Brian and Randall picked a great day to come fishing. The water was calm and the fish were biting. Brian was quick to get the day rolling with a 120 pounder within the first 15 minutes of fishing, and by 12:45 we had the opportunity to go home but chose to throw a nice turkey size halibut back in hopes finding something bigger…in the end we took home a nice chicken instead. In between, were fish weighing in at 83 lbs, a couple of 50 pounders, turkeys and chickens.

The guys at Lynden Transport reserved the boat today to take some of their best customers on a fishing trip. The Lynden guys love to fish and we'll be seeing them back several more times this summer. Sam (the host) quickly showed the crew how to halibut fish. With his back turned to his jig rod while he made a sandwich his rod promptly doubled over in the holder and a battle ensued that resulted in 2 pieces of soggy bread and a slice of cheese on the top of the cooler - and a 100 pound halibut in the boat. In all we landed 4 fish in the 80-100 pound range a couple 50-somethings and some chickens. The crew opted for the fast action of pummeling rockfish (not pictured) instead of trolling for Kings on the combo...

The Canadian crew was singing O Canada proudly today as they stepped off the boat with a nice load of halibut and the only king of the day. Corrine, like most women that go fishing, caught the most fish, the biggest fish (weighing in at 28 kg) and the only king! Way to go Corrine! I hope Dan enjoys the halibut tongue we snuck in!;) Rick and Tom from Cali gave it their best shot and went home with some beautiful halibut fillets.

Royalty has once again returned. As you can see by this picture of some beautiful KINGS! After a long morning troll with no success Chris finally hooked into our first fish around noon. He was quick to follow this up and show his fishing skills as he was onto another one within 20 minutes. Bo wasn’t about to let his dad show him up and was soon reeling like mad to keep the slack out of his line as the next two kings raced towards the boat before turning and running the other direction. What power these fish have! After waiting patiently, Kathleen stepped in and had quite a battle herself with a couple of feisty ones. And let’s not forget Janet. She hung tough all day fighting the ocean but decided it would be much more fun to take on one of the chrome bright King Salmon. Add a couple of by-catch halibut to the pot and we had a great day.
